NSA Buddy Google Relegating CLG Newsletters to the Spam Bin By Lori Price, http://www.legitgov.org/ 12 Jun 2012 If you are wondering why you do not receive your CLG Newsletters, and you (unfortunately) have Gmail as your mail client, check your spam bin. Often, CLG subscribers send emails similar to one received Monday from CLG reader Kerry B., which read in part:
I assume this is common, but for the record... First I'd like to thank you for the excellent information you share! I'm writing to report a problem I've had with Gmail and your newsletter ever since I first subscribed. Even though I have marked countless newsletters as "not spam" and added CLG to my contacts multiple times, "random" newsletters will still slip quietly into my spam folder without fail. I'm now in the habit of rummaging through my spam with the sole purpose of catching and rescuing CLG's emails.
Again today after realizing that I haven't seen anything lately from you, I went digging. Sure enough, the update sent earlier today entitled "3,000 U.S. soldiers to serve in Africa next year 11 Jun 2012" had been marked as spam, again, with absolutely no legitimate reason. I'm not sure if these types of occurrences are common or if you are aware of such an issue, but I want you to know that this is happening to me, and it happens often...
And so, if you did NOT receive the CLG Newsletter titled, '3,000 U.S. soldiers to serve in Africa next year 11 Jun 2012,' please write signup @ legitgov dot org and I will pass it along.

Hi
I am having the same problem and guess what? I do not have a gmail account.
the US terrorists have ordered OTHER COUNTRIES to ask their providers to do the same.
I have informed my provider and they claim "uh what? I don't know anything about it"
Let's see if they know that the contract will not be renewed and i will inform others.
I DECIDE. Lori they will need to destroy internet before they can stop me accessing my favourite top site
Keep up the good work, we really appreciate your hard effort.
thanks

This happened to me frequently. When I realized what was going on, I set a spam filter in place so that everything marked "CLG" would be sent to the inbox. I advise other users of Gmail do the same. Even now, when I check the newsletter as it comes in, Google always lets me know: "This message was not sent to Spam because of a filter you created."
Just in case it was simply a mistake that I allowed this treason into the inbox. :) Perhaps they're hoping I've simply been hacked by a member of Al Qaeda.
Keep up the good work, CLG.
same problem--tech advise, please?

Same problem here! It is not consistent--some I receive, some go to spam. But the same pattern occurs with some other news letters, such as Truthout and Mondoweiss. Like Kerry B cited above, I have marked these as 'non-spam' and 'white-listed sender' and so on. Still it happens. Could you point out how to apply the filter that seems to be working for you? As busy as I can be, I hate to miss the CLG mailing. I can stay current on the news in minutes--and the inserted comments always strike a chord and prompt a smile. Well worth the read!
Filter it, and complain when google spams you as a result`

Spam is exactly what it is when Google says "Due to a filter you created this message was not sent to spam." But it's not spam from CLG, it's spam from GOOGLE. Their attempt to limit what I see in my email is unethical, itrresponsible, and just plain mean. So it fits right in with the gov folks...
