Obama reaches out to Boehner, McConnell on sequester 21 Feb 2013 For the first time since the waning days of the "fiscal cliff" battle in late December, President Obama reached out to congressional Republican leaders to talk about next week's impending budget cuts known as the sequester. "He placed calls earlier today to [Senate Minority Leader Mitch] McConnell and [House] Speaker [John] Boehner," White House spokesman Jay Carney announced today. Both Boehner's and McConnell's offices confirmed the calls took place but neither would give details about what was discussed. [LOL, of course! Obama can't wait to give Boehner '98 percent of what he wants' again. The sequester sham will soon pass, and when it does, all 'Defense' Department pork will be restored by Obama with cuts only to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other social programs. And, because the cuts will be Obama-approved, the so-called Left will remain silent, as with his drones. See how well this will work for Wall Street? That was the plan from the get-go. If Obama actually gave a damn about the poor and middle class, he would have invoked the 14th Amendment in 2011 when the GOP threw a phony temper tantrum about raising the debt ceiling, since they happily raised it *countless* times during the Bush regime when Cheney said that 'deficits don't matter.' --LRP]
