Six sent to hospitals after acid spill at Nashua UPS center --10 workers did eventually begin to display respiratory problems - Nashua Fire Rescue official | 08 Aug 2017 | Six people received medical assistance after a package containing nitric acid spilled Tuesday morning at the local UPS distribution center. Fire crews responded to the facility at 7 Whipple St. about 7 a.m. on Tuesday with a hazardous materials team. According to Deputy Chief Karl Gerhard of Nashua Fire Rescue, the UPS building was evacuated following a report of a package spilling an unknown liquid and fuming on an elevated conveyor belt inside of the facility. Fire officials declared a level one mass casualty incident so that additional ambulances could report to the scene, according to Gerhard.
