The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Thursday authorized Southern Co. and its partners to build the new reactors in Waynesboro, Ga., about 275 Kilometers east of Atlanta, at a plant that already has two operating reactors. Federal regulators voted 4-1 to approve the construction of the nuclear plants, expected to cost 14 billion dollars.
