an Investigation of 9-11! How
could it happen? What culpability does the Bu$h mis-ministration have?
The Bu$h energy policy apparently was our Achilles Heal!
One of the most hopeful signs I saw from last weekends events was the unity among all progressive groups which you know is so hard to achieve. From the Anarchists and Greens to Religious groups of all faiths to the die hard Dem leftists like me. I marched alongside a gentleman named Jerry Levin (do a Google search on him) he was a CNN reporter who was taken hostage in Lebanon in 1984. He is now active with CPT(Christian Peacekeeper Teams). There are a group that places themselves between warring factions in the Middle East and other areas such as Latin America. We all marched through the Streets of DC shoulder to shoulder in our quest for peace around the world. The final gathering of protesters on Monday evening was to protest bush and Sharon and their policies. We were standing in the crowd next to 6 Jewish young people from New York. They carried signs calling for unity between Jews and Arabs and against Sharon. I was moved by their youth and their honesty. Two of them were in tears almost the entire time as they chanted for a "Free Palestine". I was not comfortable with the chants of "Long Live the Intifada", I felt it was a call for continuing the violence but one of the Jewish young men explained to me that by Intifada they were only calling for a continuation of the Resistance of the Palestinian People. The opposition to Israel is to the government and definitely not to the people. I hate that the media even CSPAN have failed to report with accuracy on the Antiwar Movement and have turned it into only Pro-Palestinian,that is so far from the truth. The crowds also gathered against US policies in Columbia and Latin America and against the School of the Americas at Ft Benning Georgia. We marched in opposition to the IMF and World Bank. Many of those who spoke at the different rallies called for the impeachment of Bush and an end to his Never Ending War. They spoke out against Ashcroft's assault on the rights of Americans. The protesters actively spoke out against all the things that have concerned all progressive Americans since Nov., 2000. My final memory of the weekends events is that of two young men, one Jewish, the other Arab locked in an embrace with tears running down both of their faces. That is the picture that should have made the front pages of all the papers and been broadcast around the world. In Peace and Solidarity, Priscilla
