Good Morning, Iraq, America and, don't forget, Viet Nam --Michael Rectenwald responds to a CLG visitor who declares that "we are all cowards and really need to shut up!"

Dear Mr. T., Sr.:

We are calling for the military to come home so that more P.O.W.'s are not victimized in Bush's misguided, illegal and possibly unsuccessful W-ar. We are the true patriots because we are holding this nation to the fire of its highest ideals--democracy, egalitarianism and liberty for all. The Bush war, however, is not about these values. Rather, it is about using ideology to talk people into believing the war is for national security, when indeed it is being fought for geopolitical resources, globalization and privatization of Iraq's resources. Even the Dallas Business Journal suggested the same: http://dallas.bizjournals.com/dallas/stories/2003/03/24/story4.html. If you want the truth, put your ear to the horse's mouth when the horse doesn't think the "wrong people" are listening. Business people are so shameless about their goals, that they are sure to let the cat out of the bag. Notice how Halliburton is already profiting from the burning oil wells (900 million dollar contract) and will benefit more from the rebuilding of Iraq (over 2 billion for them alone). The markets will be opened to "foreign investment" and taken out of state hands. This is admitted. Meanwhile, not a WMD has been found and no one but the most credulous rightwing American will believe that if found, that they weren't indeed planted there by the "coalition" forces or the CIA. Why? Because all of the "evidence" presented in support of this invasion has proven to be fabricated, plagiarized, fraudulent and fake. Who can trust such a regime as this?

The war is a disaster, a fraud, and an international disgrace and travesty. The CLG is for protecting the interests of ALL Americans on an equal footing, and that is why WE are the true Patriots. The rightwing is out for particular interests and will sacrifice the likes of this woman's son, for their own benefit, all the while praising them as they send them off to slaughter and/or be slaughtered. This is shameful, immoral, illegal, injurious, dangerous and will result in a world population more antipathetic to America than has ever existed, even outstripping that during Viet Nam. Already we are reviled the world over. That is because the rest of the world is not fed the pabulum that satiates the ill-educated and infantile mentality of the spoon-fed American. They see the ambitions of empire parading itself as 'self-defense.

We will not give up our perspective, because not only do we sincerely believe that it offers a solution to this madness, but also, there is a craving for it, a craving for more than propaganda and lies, a craving that is the result of a complete disconnect between the evidence of our senses and the story told us by the corporate-government-controlled US media.

Subject: Good Morning

Although I believe in your right to freedom of speech, I feel that you are all cowards and really need to shut up! I heard a Mother of a POW (if he is still alive, you never know with an animal like Saddam) state that she wants you all to stop doing what you are doing. Of course you won't, you all want your "15 minutes of fame", spouting your garbage and acting like concerned human beings. Acting like spoiled immature brats is more like it. Grow up and try living in the real world for a while and leave your fantasy world behind.
