Michael
Rectenwald responds
to a CLG visitor who declares us to be "pathetic cowards"
Michael
Rectenwald's reply --February 17, 2003:
William,
We do not support the dictator of Iraq, whose purported Weapons of Mass
Destruction are negligible at best. Nor, however, do we support the
unelected, imperious, impervious-to-the-world, American dictator, whose
motives for war have nothing to do with Iraqi "liberation"
or WMDs. Most likely, you do not follow the news very closely. The US
is abandoning plans to introduce democracy in Iraq after
a war to overthrow Saddam Hussein, according to Kurdish leaders
who recently met American officials (http://news.independent.co.uk/world/politics/story.jsp?story=379060).
"Conquerors always call themselves liberators,"
said Sami Abdul-Rahman, deputy prime minister of the Kurdish administration,
in a reference to Mr Bush's speech last week in which he said US troops
were going to liberate Iraq. The Bush regime plans to set up a puppet
state, to run the country of Iraq with military generals, and to basically
exploit the country's oil, water and strategic resources. This is well
known and ADMITTED by the government, but you don't READ.
We do not support an illegitimate government illegitimately forcing
its iron will of imperialism against the will of the majority internationally
and domestically.
Rather than being cowards, we brave the cold, police brutality and the
scorn of pugilists like you, in order to express our FIRST AMENDMENT
rights and our right of Assembly, as against the totalitarian impulses
of the American right wing, controlling the corporate airwaves and brainwashing
by corporate mediation.
Sincerely,
Michael Rectenwald

Letter
CLG received --February 17, 2003:
How dare you support the
bloody Iraqi dictator????. You will look even more silly and stupid
than you do now, when Iraq is liberated and the full extant of his brutal
, repressive rule are exposed. Institutional rape and torture is how
Saddam maintains power, and you mindless twits support him !! Its truely
beyond comprehension that you protest the liberation of the Iraqi people.
You will be ashamed and modified when the US and Britain do what is
morally right. I destest and loath your organization and everything
you bird-brains stand for. I beg you to go to Bagdad and be a human
shield !! Saddam will be more than happy to have you die for him.....
Sincerely,
William C.
