Citizens for Legitimate Government (CLG: http://www.legitgov.org/), a pro-democracy Pittsburgh-based national action group, has endorsed Dennis Kucinich as the Democratic candidate for President for 2004.
CLG Founder and Chair, Michael D. Rectenwald, announced the CLG's endorsement. "Dennis Kucinich has consistently opposed the agenda of the Bush regime. Bush's policies were clearly rejected by the voters when nefarious GOP operatives and their judicial apologists annulled the Presidential Election of 2000.
"The Bush coup has eventuated a continuous onslaught of anti-democratic, anti-worker, anti-women, anti-majority, anti-environmental, anti-other-than-Big Business policies that have gravely eroded our personal rights, handed the nation's treasury over to Bush-friendly looters, ruined our economy, run up deficits, turned the US into imperialist conquistadors in Afghanistan and Iraq, rejected the world criminal court and the Kyoto protocol, and gravely injured our moral and political standing in the court of world opinion. Kucinich has consistently opposed Bush and in opposing Bush has fought for legitimate government," said Rectenwald.
Dennis Kucinich (http://www.kucinich.us), the self-declared 'Progressive Choice', reflects Citizens for Legitimate Government's principles. Kucinich states: "As a candidate for President, I offer a different vision for America, one which separates me from the other candidates. I am the only candidate for President who will take this country away from fear and war and tax giveaways, and use America's peace dividend for guaranteed health care for all, ending health care for profit. I am the only candidate who will stop the privatization of social security and bring the retirement age back to 65.
"As President, I will cancel NAFTA and the WTO, restore our manufacturing jobs, save our family farms, create full employment programs, create new jobs by rebuilding our cities and schools. As President, I will repeal the Patriot Act to regain for all Americans the sacred right of privacy in our homes, our libraries, our schools."
Also, Dennis Kucinich has resisted George Bush's war in Iraq, and instead has called for the creation of a Department of Peace.
Citizens for Legitimate Government is a strategic grassroots group created by concerned, tax-paying citizens, after an activist U.S. Supreme Court abandoned its Constitutional obligations and upheld the Republican Party's efforts to eliminate the democratic process from the 2000 presidential contest. The CLG, along with many other groups, sees Bush's presidency as illegitimate. More information on the group's activities can be found on their website at www.legitgov.org.
