Ex-Blackwater/Xe workers file $60M class action lawsuit

Ex-Blackwater/Xe workers file $60M class action lawsuit 08 Jun 2011 Xe Services, the security and training company formerly known as Blackwater, faces a $60 million class-action lawsuit for allegedly depriving its workers of employee benefits to which they are entitled. The lawsuit was filed this week in federal court in Washington on behalf of more than 3,000 people who have done security work for Blackwater/Xe in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere since 2001. It alleges that the Moyock, N.C.-based company improperly classified the workers as independent contractors rather than employees, failing to pay Social Security taxes, contribute to state unemployment funds or provide health, disability or pension plans.
