Obama Says U.S. Shifting Out of Combat Role in Iraq

Obama Says U.S. Shifting Out of Combat Role in Iraq 02 Aug 2010 President Barack Obama told an organization of disabled veterans today that the end of the U.S. combat mission in Iraq by the end of the month won’t mean an end to the fighting there. "There are still those with bombs and bullets who will try to stop Iraq’s progress," he said to the national convention of the Disabled American Veterans in Atlanta. "The hard truth is we have not seen the end of American sacrifice in Iraq." [Right, now it can morph into the full-blown contracting bl*wjob it was always destined to be. Remember Bush's 'Mission Accomplished?' That was supposed to signify the end of the fighting so the contractor and mercenary funding could begin in earnest. Instead, the US had to pay the pseudo-resistance (aka 'the surge') to stop fighting, or face an even greater ignominious defeat. When the soldiers leave, the actual resistance will likely take care of the oil predators. --LRP]
