Sordid S.C. governor's race heads to runoff --State Rep. Nikki Haley had led in polls despite allegations of affairs 08 Jun 2010 A sordid South Carolina Republican primary contest tinged by racial slurs and allegations of extramarital affairs will continue for two more weeks, with no candidates in Tuesday's election reaching the 50 percent of votes necessary to prevent a runoff. State Rep. Nikki Haley, who narrowly missed the 50 percent mark, will face U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett in a June 22 runoff election. The ultimate GOP winner will face state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, who won the Democratic gubernatorial nomination Tuesday.
