Tony Blair was seconds away from shooting down airliner over London

Tony Blair was seconds away from shooting down airliner over London 02 Sep 2010 Tony Blair came within seconds of ordering the RAF to shoot down a passenger jet over London in the aftermath of 9/11, his memoirs disclose. The airliner had breached emergency restrictions imposed on British airspace immediately after the attacks on the World Trade Centre and was heading for London. Mr Blair disclosed in his autobiography, A Journey, that he had put the senior RAF commander on alert to await his order and a fighter jet was airborn in readiness to shoot down the airliner.
